JOSEP-ANTON REMOLÀ té en l’arqueologia de l’Antiguitat Tardana el seu àmbit de recerca preferencial. Doctor en Història per la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (1996) amb una tesi doctoral sobre les àmfores tardoantigues presents a Tarraco, recentment actualitzada i publicada en la col·lecció “Instrumenta” de la Universitat de Barcelona amb el títol Las ánforas tardo-antiguas en Tarraco (Hispania Tarraconensis), siglos IV-VII dC (Barcelona, 2000).

Arqueòleg del Taller-Escola d’Arqueologia de Tarragona entre 1987-1990, institució que publicà tres monografies sobre la problemàtica funerària (1987), el fòrum provincial (1989) i l’amfiteatre de Tarraco. Arqueòleg fundador de Codex-Arqueologia i Patrimoni des de 1990. Professor associat a la Universitat Rovira i Virgili (1997) des de 1997. Actualment, conservador de Documentació i Recerca del Museu Nacional Arqueològic de Tarragona (MNAT) des de 2002.

Autor de diversos articles sobre arqueologia romana, àmfores tardoantigues i Tarraco i coeditor de les actes del congrés Sordes Urbis. La eliminación de los residuos en las ciudades romanas, organitzat per la Escuela Española de Historia y Arqueología (CSIC) a Roma (novembre 1996) i publicat per "L’ERMA" di Bretschneider (Roma, 2000).

Becari de la University of Southampton (primavera 1990) i de la Escuela Española de Historia y Arqueología (EEHAR-CSIC) a Roma (1994). Director de nombroses intervencions arqueològiques a Tarragona i Catalunya i director tècnic de les excavacions al teatre i fòrum de Tusculum (Roma, Lazio) dirigides per X. Dupré (EEHAR-CSIC). Responsable dels sectors 5 i 6 de les excavacions de Bir Messaouda (Cartago) dutes a terme per la Universiteit van Amsterdam (Tunis, 2000).

JOSEP-ANTON REMOLÀ researches into the archaeology of the Late Roman Empire, with particular emphasis on trade, urbanism and culture change in the west Mediterranean basin.

In charge of numerous archaeological excavations in Tarraco and Catalonia and head of excavations in the Roman theatre and the meridional sector of the forum of Tusculum (Rome, Lazio), project directed by X. Dupré (EEHAR-CSIC). He has participated as responsible for trenches 5 and 6 in the excavation of Bir Messaouda site in Carthage sponsored by the Universiteit van Amsterdam (Tunis, 2000).
